Job summary

Lumai, an Oxford-based optical compute company, seeks an experienced embedded software engineer to own the software stack that brings our accelerator to life. You will develop Linux kernel and bare-metal device drivers, plus firmware for control processors and deterministic RTOS tasks.

You will drive bring-up for new hardware revisions, tackle clock tree and interrupt routing, and establish coding standards and testing methodologies for the embedded team.

Qualifications

• Five+ years of embedded software in C/C++ on production hardware with a relevant degree or equivalent experience.
• Hands-on BSP bring-up on custom hardware from schematic review to first OS boot.
• Solid grasp of RTOS concepts: scheduling, inter-task comms, memory protection.
• Proficiency with hardware debug tools: JTAG/SWD debuggers, oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain device drivers for Lumai's accelerator across Linux kernel and bare-metal environments.
• Write and debug firmware for control and management processors alongside the main accelerator die.
• Lead BSP bring-up on new hardware revisions: clock tree, interrupt routing, peripheral initialisation.
• Implement RTOS-based control tasks with deterministic scheduling and safe resource management.
• Validate bring-up with hardware engineers using JTAG debugging, oscilloscope analysis and logic capture.
• Set the coding standards, review practice and testing methodology for the embedded team
