Job summary

Lumai, the optical compute company based in Oxford, is seeking a board-level analog/mixed-signal designer to own the design from specification through production. You will work across optics, electronics and system teams to deliver high-performance front ends and drivers that connect photonics to light.

You will characterize sub-systems on the bench, drive SPICE simulations, and guide layout engineers to ensure robust, production-grade solutions for next-generation optical AI hardware.

Qualifications

• Degree in electronics and proven board-level analog/mixed-signal design experience for production products.
• Strong fundamentals in op-amps, feedback, noise analysis, filtering, and precision circuits.
• Hands-on TIAs or high-bandwidth amplifier front ends experience.
• Experience with high-performance ADC/DAC drivers and clock/references design.
• Solid knowledge of low-noise power supply design, grounding and shielding.

Responsibilities

• Design board-level analog and mixed-signal circuits for photonics interfaces (photodiodes, TIAs, ADC/DAC drivers).
• Translate optical requirements into analog specifications and architectures with cross-functional teams.
• Design low-noise power delivery and precision references, grounding and partitioning schemes.
• Develop control loops for photonic components (temperature, laser current).
• Run SPICE simulations, analyze noise and stability, and validate across corners.
• Provide layout constraints and review layouts for analog integrity, guiding production.
