Job summary

Octagon Group in New Forest, Hampshire, is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to design and develop embedded software across microcontrollers, RTOS, and Embedded Linux, interfacing closely with hardware teams.

The role involves creating robust software from spec to manufacture, with responsibilities spanning debugging, testing and verification, and ensuring smooth production transfer for a variety of electronic products and IoT devices.

Qualifications

Experience with Embedded C, RTOS, 32-bit MCUs and hardware interaction.
Degree in Software Engineering or related discipline desirable.
Familiarity with FreeRTOS/Zephyr, Embedded Linux, GUI development and various communications protocols.

Responsibilities

Review product specifications and develop robust embedded software including Embedded C, bare-metal and RTOS-based development.
Design and develop embedded, application and test software for electronic products, collaborating with hardware engineers.
Develop reliable products meeting specifications and standards with debugging, testing and verification responsibilities.
Support transition of products from development into production with Production Engineering.
