Job summary

Leonardo UK seeks a Lead Electronics Engineer to join the GCAP team in Edinburgh, responsible for electronics development of the radar array subsystem within the Team Tempest demonstrator. The role focuses on design, integration, test and certification, with hybrid working and a 60% Edinburgh office presence.

You will lead a small team, drive plans and documentation, ensure certification processes, and contribute to a national defence programme with a strong focus on hands-on hardware work.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Electronics Engineering or related field.
• Expert-level proficiency in at least one electronics design domain.
• Experience with industry standard tools and lab measurement methods.
• Experience in team leadership and work package management.
• Strong interpersonal skills and coaching ability.
• Experience across the electronics design lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Hardware requirements management for the array subsystem.
• Lead design engineers through the lifecycle.
• Own electronics work package activities for the array.
• Develop and complete integration and verification plans.
• Mentor junior engineers and collaborate across functions.
• Support testing, integration, and certification activities.
