Job summary

Archangel Lightworks in Oxford is seeking a Senior Electronics Engineer to lead the design, integration, and testing of complex subsystems for our Optical Communications Terminal. This hands-on, highly collaborative role requires working with software, mechanical, and optical teams to ensure readiness for Assembly, Integration, and Test (AIT).

Qualifications

• 5+ years in electronics development with end-to-end ownership.
• Experience with electrical hardware-software development: schematic design, PCB layout, testing, component library maintenance, and version control.
• EMC compliance and electronic component selection experience.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership of the electronics function to meet objectives.
• Subsystem ownership: end-to-end development of electrical subsystems including requirements definition, architecture, design, procurement and verification.
• Hardware-Software integration: board and subsystem level integration, CAN/SPI/UART/I2C protocols, coordination with embedded software/firmware teams.
• PCB and harness development: support PCB production, design/maintain harnesses, collaborate with production partners and testing teams, mentor colleagues.
• Testing & Ground Support: participate in formal test campaigns, design electrical test equipment, ensure readiness for full AIT flow.
