Job summary

Archangel Lightworks, based in Oxford, seeks a Senior Electronics Engineer to lead the design, integration and testing of complex subsystems for our Optical Communications Terminal. You will collaborate with software, mechanical and optical teams to ensure integration-ready hardware and full AIT verification.

Key responsibilities include end-to-end subsystem ownership, requirements definition, architectural design, PCB and harness development, and mentoring junior engineers as we scale

Qualifications

• 5+ years in electronics development with end-to-end ownership of complex electronic subsystems; proven track record delivering to schedule, cost, and quality
• Strong background in electronics design theory; university degree or similar
• Experience with electrical hardware-software development: schematic design; PCB layout; testing PCB component library parts; version control (Github); electronic component selection; EMC; MCU programming and bring-up
• Knowledge of electrical design tools: PCB tools (KiCad/Altium), simulation (Spice), harness design tools (RapidHarness)
• Experience mentoring junior engineers

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership of the electronics function to meet objectives
• Subsystem ownership: end-to-end development of electrical subsystems
• Hardware-software integration: board and subsystem level, CAN/SPI/UART/I2C
• PCB and harness development: production support, design, testing, sign-offs
• Testing & ground support: participate in formal test campaigns and develop test equipment
