Job summary

Holt Executive Ltd in Crawley, West Sussex, is seeking a Senior Electrical Hardware Engineer to lead the design of electrical hardware for flight simulators, guiding concepts through testing and production releases.

You will design power distribution systems (single- and three-phase), produce schematics and wiring diagrams, and work with multidisciplinary teams to ensure performance, reliability and compliance.

Qualifications

• Substantial electrical hardware design experience in aerospace/defence or capital equipment.
• Strong experience designing single-phase and three-phase power distribution systems.
• Proficiency with CAD tools for schematic capture, wiring diagrams and panel layouts.
• Practical knowledge of EMC design and testing, plus BS 7671 and related directives.
• Experience with formal design reviews, verification and production release processes.
• Excellent troubleshooting and cross-disciplinary collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of electrical hardware for flight simulators from concept through testing and production release.
• Design single-phase and three-phase power distribution systems, including switchgear selection, protection coordination and cable sizing.
• Produce technical specifications, wiring diagrams, schematics and panel layouts with traceability.
• Support system integration, including rack power distribution, cooling and high-density cabling.
• Apply EMC principles, support EMC testing, and ensure compliance.
• Conduct hardware testing, validation and troubleshooting to meet performance and reliability targets.
• Collaborate with suppliers and multidisciplinary teams to meet schedules and budgets.
• Provide technical leadership, run design reviews and mentor junior engineers.
