Job summary

SSE is seeking an Operational Electrical Engineer to join the Onshore Wind, Solar & Battery Electrical Engineering team. Based in Shetland, you will support asset integrity and HV operations across wind, solar and BESS sites, with a focus on safety and reliability.

You will lead outages, manage projects and contractors, and travel regularly across the UK and Ireland. A comprehensive benefits package and company vehicle are included.

Qualifications

• Minimum HNC level qualification in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Experience with HV electrical equipment and protection systems.
• Proven project management and contractor oversight experience.
• Willingness to travel across the UK and Ireland.

Responsibilities

• Provide operational safety from system up to 275kV, including maintenance, fault response, refurbishment and commissioning.
• Lead outage planning and delivery, monitor plant health, and suggest maintenance strategies.
• Manage engineering projects and design enhancements for wind, solar and battery assets.
• Oversee contractors and service providers, including scope, planning and safety/performance monitoring.
• Support operations and budget processes and engage in formal technical discussions.
