Job summary

Mott MacDonald Bentley is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to lead electrical design across major water and wastewater projects in Scotland. You’ll work from feasibility through construction, coordinating with commercial, operational and construction teams to deliver safe, compliant solutions.

The role requires Chartered Engineer status, strong project management and a willingness to travel to sites within the region. An established track record in water/wastewater is essential.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Chartership (CEng) with a recognized Engineering Institution.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Experience delivering high quality outputs in line with design, quality and safety standards.
• Effective communication with team members and stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel to sites across the operational region.
• Water/wastewater experience required.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the design, planning, and execution of electrical engineering on projects.
• Provide design support and guidance for schemes, ensuring designs meet legislation and standards.
• Collaborate with commercial, operational and construction teams to develop safe, practical solutions.
• Engage with the client, manage relationships and adopt a one-team approach.
• Manage interfaces and integration of process design with other disciplines.
• Act as technical checker on project documents and conduct cross-team reviews.
• Identify opportunities to improve delivery, develop standard designs, sustainable solutions, and digital tools.
• Undertake site reviews to ensure buildability and integration within existing systems.
• Support development of the mechanical engineering team, mentoring engineers and resource planning.
