Job summary

The Green Recruitment Company is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer for Birmingham with hybrid working. You will lead the Electrical Design Team, deliver high-quality MEP building services across diverse projects and take technical ownership while mentoring engineers and supporting business development.

You will oversee projects from feasibility to handover, ensuring compliance with BS 7671 and industry standards, while coordinating with multidisciplinary teams and clients.

Qualifications

• Senior B.S. or M.S. level with building services focus; Chartered status preferred.
• Proven experience leading electrical design projects from concept to completion.
• Strong client-facing and stakeholder management capabilities.
• Experience coordinating with multidisciplinary teams across healthcare, education, commercial sectors.

Responsibilities

• Lead the electrical design team and act as technical authority for building services.
• Oversee feasibility, concept, construction and handover across RIBA Stages 1–6.
• Mentor engineers and drive resource planning and development.
• Manage budgets, programmes and quality; lead client, contractor and design team meetings.
• Support bids, frameworks, proposals and business development efforts.
• Ensure compliance with BS 7671 and relevant standards.
