Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer (building services) to lead electrical design for complex buildings in Randburg, Gauteng. The role combines on-site and office work in a hybrid setup, with mentoring responsibilities for junior engineers and CAD technicians.

You will ensure compliance with SANS 10142 and international standards. You will manage design activities, produce drawings and calculations, liaise with clients and architects, and oversee project budgets and schedules to

Qualifications

• BEng or BSc in Electrical Engineering required.
• Professional registration (Pr Eng) with ECSA is required.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in electrical building services design.
• Proven experience managing electrical design for complex building projects.
• In-depth knowledge of electrical design software: AutoCAD, Revit MEP, DIALux.
• Strong knowledge of electrical regulations and building codes (e.g., SANS 10142).

Responsibilities

• Lead the design of electrical systems for buildings, including power distribution and lighting.
• Develop detailed drawings, schematics, calculations, and specifications.
• Conduct site surveys to assess conditions and compliance.
• Coordinate with clients, architects, and other disciplines throughout projects.
• Manage budgets, timelines, and quality across electrical design work.
• Review contractor submittals and provide technical support during construction.
• Mentor junior engineers and CAD technicians; stay updated on new technologies.
