Job summary

Collins Aerospace in Wolverhampton is hiring a Principal Electric Systems Engineer – Motor drives to lead the design, development and verification of motor drive systems for aerospace actuation.

You will own architecture decisions and coordinate across electronics, software, firmware and test engineering, partnering with mechanical and systems leads to integrate the drive controller into the overall system.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical/Electronics/Control Engineering or related discipline.
• Significant experience designing, developing and verifying motor drive systems and power electronic converters.
• Strong expertise in power electronics design including inverter topologies and control circuits.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and systems-thinking capabilities.
• Strong communication skills with ability to engage with teams, customers, programme leadership and certification bodies.
• Proactive and innovative mindset with passion for differentiated engineering solutions.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for design, development and verification of motor drive systems.
• Own technical architecture and design decisions for motor drive products.
• Lead cross-functional activities across electronics, software, firmware and test engineering.
• Collaborate with mechanical and systems leads to integrate the motor drive controller into the actuation architecture.
• Develop robust requirements and support risk and change control processes for the motor drive subsystem.
• Lead validation and testing plans for the motor drive controller subsystem.
