Job summary

Collins Aerospace in Wolverhampton, UK, is seeking a Principal Design Engineer to lead the design and development of electrical actuation systems for aircraft nacelles. You will guide multidisciplinary teams from concept through production, ensuring design integrity and compliance with aerospace standards.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience in a design engineering environment.
• Knowledge of machine design and electro-mechanical equipment products.
• Experience leading generation of innovative design concepts across lifecycle.
• Proven ability for problem solving.
• Experience in supporting failure investigations.
• Excellent written and oral communication in multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience using CATIA.
• Experience using Teamcenter PLM systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead generation of innovative design concepts and configurations for electro-mechanical actuation systems.
• Provide technical leadership and direction to design engineering teams.
• Reviewing and approving design engineering deliverables and ensuring process compliance.
• Support all stages of the product lifecycle from requirements to production support.
• Collaborate with customers, suppliers and internal teams to resolve engineering challenges.
• Mentor and develop junior engineers and graduates.
• Oversee manufacturing data packages, drawings and tolerance analyses.
• Contribute to risk identification, mitigation planning and design assurance.
