Job summary

WSP is seeking a Principal EIA Consultant to join its Environmental Assessment and Management team in the UK. You will lead environmental inputs to energy T&D infrastructure projects, manage bidding, project delivery and finances, and mentor junior colleagues.

You will collaborate with engineers, planners and clients to shape sustainable design and ensure compliance with EIA processes and planning legislation across multiple sectors.

Qualifications

• A relevant environmental degree level qualification in EIA, or similar.
• Chartered Environmental Status or Full membership of IEMA, or equivalent qualification with a relevant professional body.
• Excellent experience of EIA and EIA processes with limited supervision within multi-disciplinary teams.
• Sound knowledge and experience of relevant environmental and planning legislation.
• First rate verbal and written communication skills including report writing and reviewing with an attention to detail.
• Experience in large scale infrastructure projects, e.g. rail, highways, energy, commercial/residential.
• Comprehensive project management skills, including commercial and risk aspects, forecasting, and quality assurance.

Responsibilities

• Lead environmental inputs to energy T&D infrastructure projects and project designs.
• Manage bidding, project delivery, and financial management.
• Grow the energy T&D sector offer with sector leads and client account managers.
• Provide environmental advice and support to clients, project managers and colleagues.
• Coordinate with engineers, environmental specialists, clients and teams to promote sustainable design and environmental enhancement.
• Oversee the delivery of environmental inputs including planning applications, EA/EIA, route optioneering and stakeholder engagement.
