Job summary

WSP is seeking a Principal EIA Consultant to lead environmental inputs for energy T&D projects in the UK. You will manage bidding, project delivery, and financial aspects while guiding multi-disciplinary teams to deliver sustainable design and environmental enhancement.

You will provide expert advice to clients and colleagues, oversee planning, EIA work, stakeholder engagement, and DCO support, and strive to grow the energy sector while mentoring junior staff and upholding health and safety

Qualifications

• A relevant environmental degree level qualification in EIA, or similar.
• Achieved or demonstrably working towards Chartered Environmental Status and Full membership of IEMA, or similar qualification with a relevant professional body.
• Excellent experience of EIA and EIA processes and working with limited supervision within multi-disciplinary teams.
• Sound knowledge and experience of relevant environmental and planning legislation.
• First rate verbal and written communication skills including report writing and reviewing with an attention to detail.
• Experience in large scale infrastructure projects, for example, rail, highways, energy, commercial / residential.
• Comprehensive project management skills, including commercial and risk aspects, forecasting, and quality assurance.

Responsibilities

• Lead environmental inputs to energy T&D projects and manage delivery with engineering teams.
• Oversee bidding, project delivery, and financial management responsibilities.
• Grow the energy T&D sector by working with sector leads and client account managers.
• Provide environmental advice and support to clients, project managers and colleagues.
• Promote sustainable design and environmental enhancement with project teams.
• Coordinate planning applications, EA/EIA work, route optioneering, site selection and stakeholder engagement.
• Manage performance on technical, quality, commercial and health and safety aspects.
• Build client relationships and identify opportunities for resourcing, programming and strategy development.
• Undertake business development activities and contribute to proposals and bid preparation.
• Support development of innovative techniques such as Digital EIA and Future Ready EIA.
• Upskill junior colleagues and promote an inclusive workplace culture.
