Job summary

The NHS Trust seeks an experienced echocardiography specialist to provide autonomous adult echocardiography, including 3D and GLS, with emphasis on clinical judgement and reporting to BSE guidelines.

You will teach junior staff, participate in audits and education, ensure infection control, and maintain HCPC registration and professional accreditations; duties span ward, ITU and cath lab settings.

Qualifications

• Specialist autonomous professional in adult echocardiography.
• Proficiency in clinical judgement and interpretation of results.
• Perform diagnostic echocardiography including 3D and GLS.
• Produce comprehensive reports in line with BSE guidelines.
• Administer medications and contrast agents as part of advanced practice.
• Maintain infection control and PPE protocols.
• Participate in training and mentoring of junior staff.
• Maintain HCPC registration and relevant accreditations.

Responsibilities

• Practice as a specialist autonomous professional in adult echocardiography and exercise clinical judgement when required.
• Perform echocardiography in settings including bedside, ITU and cardiac catheter labs.
• Administer medications and contrast agents as part of advanced clinical practice.
• Keep abreast of developments in echocardiography and disseminate new information to staff.
• Ensure compliance with national and international guidelines and local policies.
• Conduct audits to ensure compliance with local and national standards.
• Provide training and mentorship to junior staff and trainees.
• Write up case studies and participate in educational sessions and journal clubs.
