About the Opportunity

Jacobs Nuclear is the Design and Engineering partner for Sellafield under the PPP (Programme and Project Partners). This is a 20-year arrangement to deliver approximately £7 billion of major projects. We seek high-value expertise from regulated and comparable sectors to work collaboratively. The PPP delivers major projects, site-wide improvements, and supporting services.

Jacobs Nuclear provides front-end design and engineering across the PPP portfolio. Being part of the PPP Team offers a unique chance to drive innovation in engineering, safety, and delivery solutions at one of the most complex industrial sites globally. We value professionals passionate about development and new challenges.

The Sludge Handling and Export Plan (SH&EP) aims to enable treatment of mobile sludge stored in SPP1, originating from FGSMP, into a form suitable for long-term storage and disposal.

We have an opening for a Lead EC&I Engineer (Electrical Bias) to support the CE&I Responsible Engineer in delivering the project's CE&I design outputs. The current phase involves designing the building's electrical supply and services infrastructure. The candidate should understand the design of these systems from level 1 switchboards to level 2 switchboards, motor control systems, small power, and lighting systems. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Collaborate with and advise the Responsible Engineer and Engineering Managers on all CE&I design aspects to ensure successful project delivery.
  2. Develop and confirm building electrical services designs, including GI, GNI, normal supplies, earthing systems, and lightning protection.
  3. Coordinate space management within the building for electrical systems.
  4. Lead and support junior CE&I designers in executing their scope.
  5. Assist the Responsible Engineer in reporting progress against the project schedule.

Qualifications:

  • Institution Membership (Management, Engineering, or Scientific), preferably Chartered or Incorporated.
  • Experience with CE&I key deliverables such as SLDs, BCDs, cable routing, cable calculations, small power, and lighting design.
  • Proficiency with Amtech or similar software.
  • Demonstrated experience with innovative, fit-for-purpose design solutions, with 5-10 years in roles emphasizing engineering knowledge.
  • Degree or equivalent qualification.
