Job summary

Leonardo UK is seeking a Principal DevOps Engineer to lead automation and DevOps work across hybrid and cloud environments. You will act as the technical authority, design and implement CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and container orchestration while mentoring engineers and coordinating delivery with stakeholders.

The role emphasizes security integration (DevSecOps), collaboration with customers, and a blended hybrid working model with on-site collaboration in Bristol.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience designing, building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines across multiple platforms.
• Strong expertise in Infrastructure as Code and security-integrated DevOps practices.
• Proven ability to lead engineers, plan work and deliver with quality, cost and schedule in mind.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS/Azure) and hybrid deployments, with a security-first mindset.

Responsibilities

• Act as technical authority for automation and DevOps solutions across projects.
• Lead design and implementation of CI/CD pipelines and IaC initiatives.
• Provide mentoring, line management and capability development for the team.
• Engage with stakeholders to defend technical solutions and report delivery progress.
