Job summary

Sudlows is seeking an experienced Design Manager to own and coordinate the design delivery process across data centre and critical infrastructure projects from tender through handover.

Based at our Manchester head office, the role involves coordinating outputs from internal designers, external consultants, suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring outputs are buildable and aligned with programme and commercial needs.

Qualifications

• The candidate has substantial experience managing multidisciplinary design through tender, development and construction.
• They possess broad M&E knowledge with data centre or critical-environment experience preferred.
• They can review and challenge integrated critical systems, with strong leadership and communication.
• They show proficiency in coordinating internal designers, external consultants and suppliers.
• They lead design governance, information management and interface coordination.

Responsibilities

• Own and manage the multidisciplinary design delivery process from tender through handover.
• Maintain and drive the design management plan, programme, information schedules and reviews.
• Manage scopes, appointments and deliverables of internal and external designers; lead coordination meetings and close comments.
• Coordinate and assure compliant, buildable designs and resolve multidisciplinary interfaces.
• Monitor design progress, resource, risk and change; escalate impacts on safety, cost or programme.
• Support procurement, construction and site activities and contribute to design close-out.
