Job summary

px fairport is recruiting a Lead Design Engineer to own all design outputs on allocated projects, coordinating 3D models, interfaces and technical documentation. You will supervise Design Engineers, ensure quality and compliance with ISO 9001 and COS, and provide technical leadership across the team.

The role requires strong knowledge of bulk material handling, conveyor systems, and 3D CAD (Autodesk Inventor or Revit).

Qualifications

HNC in relevant design or engineering discipline, or equivalent.
Experience as a Design Engineer in material handling.
Excellent knowledge of bulk material handling and conveyor systems.
Good 3D CAD software knowledge (Autodesk Inventor or Revit preferred).
Excellent knowledge of technical drawing and BS 8888.
Excellent understanding of the design process and its documentation.
Knowledge of manufacturing processes for heavy fabrication.

Responsibilities

Lead the design and development of equipment, systems, and schemes to the brief.
Produce 3D models and technical drawings, ensuring CAD standards.
Prepare technical documentation and manage drawings, BoMs, and documents.
Ensure outputs meet project specs, standards, and regulatory requirements.
Lead design review meetings and capture actions.
Carry out design analyses to improve safety, DfMA, and functionality.
Promote value engineering and right-first-time delivery.
Undertake site visits to support project delivery.
Provide technical leadership and mentoring to Design Engineers.
