Job summary

PER International is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to create 3D models and 2D drawings for new and existing products, working across Sales, Design, Purchasing and Production. You will apply materials knowledge, manage drawings and BOMs, and support prototype manufacture, testing and the ERP implementation to improve product delivery.

Qualifications

• Three to five years of industrial mechanical/electro-mechanical engineering experience.
• Experience producing 3D models and 2D drawings.
• Design of sheet metal cabinets, housings or assemblies.
• Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes (laser cutting, punching, folding).
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Excel, Word).
• Experience with ERP systems.
• Electrical/electronic engineering knowledge.
• Working knowledge of AC/DC systems.
• Familiarity with EMC, thermal management, FMEA and stress analysis.
• Understanding of materials selection and corrosion protection.

Responsibilities

• Create 3D models, 2D drawings, electro-mechanical schematics, BOMs.
• Design sheet metal housings, assemblies and mechanical packaging.
• Assist with 3D model illustrations and animations for Sales, Service and Training.
• Apply materials and manufacturing knowledge to designs.
• Analyze designs with software models for stress, load and thermal requirements.
• Support prototype manufacture, testing and validation.
• Maintain engineering records and part libraries.
• Assist transition to SolidWorks and ERP system implementation.
• Ensure compliance with IP, EMC and seismic standards.
• Ensure parts and drawings stay current with suppliers and ERP.
