Job summary

Primaire Consulting Ltd in Coleford seeks an experienced Lead Engineer (Mechanical) to own design packages from concept to release and act as a design authority. You will provide engineering expertise across the business and support right-first-time delivery.

The role requires strong CAD skills (2D/3D), experience with SAP/ERP, and registration towards IEng/CEng or equivalent. A driving licence and willingness to travel may be needed.

Qualifications

• BEng or MEng in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline.
• Proven experience delivering mechanical engineering designs in an industrial/manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated ability to take technical ownership and provide leadership.
• Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with 2D and 3D CAD systems (AutoCAD, Creo).
• Working knowledge of SAP or a similar ERP system.
• Incorporated Engineer (IEng) or Chartered Engineer (CEng) status, or actively working towards registration.
• Experience acting as a technical authority with design review/approval.

Responsibilities

• Produce mechanical engineering designs, calculations and documentation per customer specs and standards.
• Own design packages from concept through to release and support manufacture.
• Apply risk management and safety considerations to ensure compliant solutions.
• Provide engineering data to support quality and right-first-time practices.
• Offer technical support to Sales, Operations and other departments.
• Resolve technical issues and advise colleagues across the business.
• Attend meetings to support projects, problem solving and objectives.
• Act as design authority and escalate high-risk decisions as needed.
• Contribute to departmental KPIs and support Engineering Management.
