Job summary

Collins Aerospace in Wolverhampton seeks a Principal Design Engineer to lead electro-mechanical actuation design across the product lifecycle from concept to production and in-service support.

You will provide technical leadership, review design deliverables, mentor junior engineers and collaborate with global teams to resolve complex challenges while shaping the engineering strategy and technology roadmap.

The role is based in a new Collins Aerospace facility in Wolverhampton with <20% international travel.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience leading design engineering in electro-mechanical systems.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Experience with CATIA and PLM systems is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead generation of innovative electro-mechanical actuation concepts.
• Provide technical leadership to design teams and review deliverables.
• Oversee lifecycle from requirements to production support.
• Collaborate with customers, suppliers and cross-functional teams.
• Mentor junior engineers and graduates.
