Job summary

Legal & General Group in Cardiff is seeking a Lead Data Engineer to join the Retail Analytics Data Hub. You will design, build and improve data solutions across retail domains, with hands-on leadership and collaboration with stakeholders.

You'll mentor engineers, advocate modern ELT patterns using Snowflake, Azure Data Factory and dbt Cloud, and help mature data pipelines, governance and release processes within an Agile/Scrum environment.

Qualifications

Extensive experience designing and building data pipelines.
Strong data modelling skills including Kimball concepts.
Experience with Snowflake, ADF and dbt Cloud in modern data platforms.

Responsibilities

Designing and building modern data solutions across the Retail Analytics Data Hub
Developing scalable data pipelines using ELT with Snowflake, ADF and dbt Cloud
Translating business requirements into technical specs, delivery plans and tasks
Leading data modelling activity including Kimball fact and dimension design
Supporting migration from legacy tooling towards Snowflake‑centred solutions
Working within Scrum teams to refine, plan and deliver data engineering work
Mentoring and coaching data engineers across the team
Improving standards, documentation, quality, governance and release processes
