Job summary

Legal & General is seeking a Lead Data Engineer to join the Retail DataOps team in the UK. You will design, build and improve modern data solutions across the Retail Analytics Data Hub, delivering scalable pipelines and data models.

This hands-on leadership role combines mentoring engineers, translating business needs into technical plans, and guiding data pipelines using Snowflake, ADF and dbt Cloud.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in data engineering and building data pipelines.
• Good understanding of data modelling and dimensional modelling (Kimball).
• Experience with Snowflake, ADF or dbt Cloud or equivalent tooling.
• Ability to translate business needs into technical delivery plans.
• Experience in Agile or Scrum delivery environments.
• Ability to mentor and coach engineers.

Responsibilities

• Design modern data solutions across the Retail Analytics Data Hub.
• Develop scalable ELT data pipelines using Snowflake, ADF and dbt Cloud.
• Translate business requirements into clear technical specs and delivery plans.
• Lead data modelling activities, Kimball-style fact/dimension design.
• Support migration from legacy tooling to Snowflake-centric solutions.
• Work in Scrum teams to refine, plan and deliver data engineering work.
• Mentor engineers across the team and improve standards.
