Job summary

Legal & General is a leading UK financial services group hiring a Lead Data Engineer for our Retail DataOps team. The role focuses on designing, building and maturing data solutions across the Retail Analytics Data Hub, with hands-on work and technical leadership.

You will work with Snowflake, ADF and dbt Cloud, mentor peers, and partner with stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable data pipelines and robust modelling. Flexible working options are considered where possible.

Qualifications

Strong experience in data engineering, including building and operating data pipelines.
Experience with dimensional modelling using Kimball principles.
Proficient with modern data tooling such as Snowflake, ADF, dbt Cloud.
Able to translate business needs into clear technical delivery plans.

Responsibilities

Designing and building modern data solutions across the Retail Analytics Data Hub.
Developing scalable data pipelines using modern ELT approaches and tools such as Snowflake, ADF and dbt Cloud.
Translating business requirements into clear technical specifications, delivery plans and engineering tasks.
Leading data modelling activity, including Kimball-style fact and dimension design.
Supporting migration from legacy tooling towards Snowflake-centred data solutions.
Working within Scrum teams to refine, plan and deliver data engineering work.
Mentoring and coaching data engineers across the team.
Improving standards, documentation, quality, governance and release processes.
