Job summary

Orbis Group is seeking a hands-on data platform lead to own the design and execution of the firm's data platform, working directly with the CTO. You will drive architecture, modernize systems, and lead a small data engineering team with senior stakeholder exposure.

The role requires strong experience in the Microsoft ecosystem and data engineering, with a focus on regulatory fintech considerations and AI-enabled data design. Based in the UK with 2 days travel to Bristol HQ and remaining time WFH.

Qualifications

• In-depth experience with Microsoft ecosystem including Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL Database, Dataverse and Medallion architecture.
• Strong visibility across tech stack to guide future use of Microsoft products.
• Hands-on Data Engineer with deploying data pipelines and infrastructure as code.
• Experience integrating Microsoft 365 with CRMs.
• People management of a small team.
• Interest/exposure to AI-enabled data design.
• Financial services background with understanding of regulatory requirements and M&A tech implications.

Job description

2 days per month required to travel to the Bristol HQ, the remaining is WFH.

An exciting, newly created position to support the planned growth of a strong brand in the UK Wealth Management industry. Working directly with the CTO, an industry veteran and proven people leader, the role has full ownership of the design and execution of the firm's data platform including leading a small team of Data Engineers.

This is a hands on technical leadership role with significant senior stakeholder interaction.

The team's focus:

• Build data validation layer for wider applications
• System modernization within the current Microsoft 365 environment
• Architecture delivery and establish engineering standards
• Monitoring and observability

Required experience:

• In depth experience of the Microsoft ecosystem including as a minimum: Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL Database, Dataverse, Medallion architecture
• You'll be expected to have strong visibility on the broad tech stack to be able to help set the strategic direction of how Microsoft is used in the future
• Proven experience as a hands on Data Engineer including deploying data pipelines and infrastructure as code
• Examples of integration Microsoft 365 with CRMs
• People management of a small team
• A genuine interest and exposure to AI enabled data design
• Preferably industry experience within Financial Services with an understanding of consumer focused regulatory requirements and dependencies on M&A lead target operating model strategy as it relates to technology
