With outstanding leadership skills, you will drive continuous improvement, foster collaboration, and optimise resource allocation. You will define our construction management procedures, proactively identifying and addressing inefficiencies, whilst successfully delivering against challenging targets. Committed to the highest health and safety standards, you will ensure excellence is embedded in every aspect of project delivery, improving efficiency and driving quality across the airport.

This is a unique opportunity to support a variety of projects ensuring efficiency across the whole project portfolio. Joining in a high-profile role you will have the opportunity to make a lasting impact on Gatwick's future infrastructure and support our ambition to achieve Net Zero by 2030, driving sustainable construction practices and minimising our environmental impact.

If you are a strategic leader ready to tackle complex challenges, with an ability to work in a rapidly changing, live environment, we want to hear from you!

The role

Reporting directly to the Head of the Project Management Office and collaborating closely with our Senior Leadership and Executive teams, as a subject matter expert, you will be responsible for establishing and enforcing all safety and quality processes and procedures, whilst leading the growth and development of the Construction Management team, recognising those with high potential. With extensive experience handling complex challenges, you will drive continuous improvements, ensuring operational excellence and best practices across the team.

Other duties include:

  • Ensuring construction management requirements for reporting, auditing and reviews are clearly defined.
  • Developing indicators of construction delivery effectiveness and efficiency to drive continuous improvement.
  • Identifying and delivering efficiencies across the Construction Management team in how resources are allocated.
  • Identifying and applying relevant lessons learnt and/or best practice into the associated construction management process and procedures.
  • Identifying best practices for Project Execution Planning and ensuring that plans are produced at an appropriate time and level of detail for every project.
  • Supporting project teams on the constructability of planned projects.
What are we looking for?

The live environment at Gatwick requires all our teams to have a flexible and agile approach, with exceptional problem-solving skills and an ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.

As well as an in-depth knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental regulations within the Construction industry, this role requires:

  • A Degree or equivalent, in a relevant engineering, construction or business-related field.
  • Significant experience of construction management on large infrastructure projects, within a live environment.
  • Demonstrable experience leading and developing small teams of up to ten people.
  • Significant experience of applying construction techniques & managing constructability issues.
  • Excellent understanding and experience in quality management.
  • Experience working to ISO 9001 or equivalent, and designing business processes for the delivery of capital projects.
  • Chartered Member of a recognised Engineering Institution (highly desirable).
Benefits

Our employees tell us that working here is something special and no day is like another; where our teams do something every day other airports only dream of. Along with a competitive salary, our employees enjoy a range of personal, health and financial benefits, including:

  • 5% Welcome Bonus
  • Performance-based bonus scheme
  • High street shops and restaurant discounts
  • Healthcare scheme
  • Life and disability insurance
  • Professional training to develop
  • Discounted travel
  • Volunteer days
