Job Description

London Gatwick offers an exciting opportunity for a Programme Construction Manager to join our dynamic team at the world's most efficient single-runway airport. The Programme Construction Manager will play a pivotal role in overseeing construction activities on multiple major projects within a live operational environment, with project values exceeding £50m. The role involves assisting the Programme Manager in managing all aspects of construction management across the programme.

What are we looking for

• Lead Construction Management: Oversee construction management across all projects within the assigned Programme.
• Team Development: Lead the development of the Construction Management team, setting standards, managing, motivating, coaching, and mentoring staff. Recognize talent and support high-potential individuals.
• Safety Engagement: Coordinate safety activities to foster a culture of health, safety, and environmental excellence.
• Contractor Review and Compliance: Support reviews of contractor submissions and monitor compliance with plans.
• Quality and Commissioning: Review contractor quality and commissioning submittals, ensuring compliance with plans and reports.
• Work Inspections: Inspect work for compliance with drawings, standards, and regulations. Collaborate with design teams for site queries.
• Contractor Onboarding: Support contractor onboarding, logistics, and interface management, balancing operational and project needs.

Qualifications and Experience

• Degree or equivalent in construction management or engineering; Chartered Membership is desirable.
• Minimum of ten years' experience in construction management on complex infrastructure projects valued over £50m.
• Experience managing multiple projects and understanding construction techniques and quality management.
• Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental issues in construction.
• Experience in project close-out, operational environment management, problem-solving, and proficiency with Microsoft Office. Familiarity with NEC contracts and full UK driving license are desirable.
