Principal Construction Manager

Salary: Up to £80,000 (depending on your suitability and level of experience)

Location: Reading area

Role Overview:

AWE is recruiting a Principal Construction Manager responsible for providing strategic leadership and management of professional engineering services for the CASD Programme. You will serve as a key point for construction advice, policy, standards, and best practices, ensuring compliance with Nuclear Licence Conditions, safety codes, and quality standards.

Candidate Requirements:

• Experience in strategic construction leadership, including team development, project target achievement, and health and safety standards.
• Commercial experience with construction contracting, especially NEC contracts.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate technical complexities.
• Ability to chair meetings and manage work to meet project timelines.
• Experience delivering construction management in manufacturing or research environments.
• Knowledge of relevant legislation and standards such as HSAWA and CDM.
• Experience leading multi-discipline teams.
• Understanding of construction supply chain methodologies.
• Degree in engineering, construction, or resource/human resource management or equivalent.

• Safety certifications such as SMSTS, NEBOSH Construction, or equivalent.
• Appropriate safety scheme cards like CSCS Manager's card or CCNSG Safety Passport.
