Job summary

SSEN Transmission are seeking a Consents and Environment Manager to support the development and delivery of major terrestrial transmission infrastructure. You will work on iconic projects that help Scotland meet NetZero by transmitting renewable energy.

You will join an award-winning team with autonomy on projects, supported by a Lead Consents and Environment Manager, and collaborate with multi-disciplinary colleagues to achieve key milestones and compliant environmental outcomes.

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of the Scottish planning process and EIA legislation.
• Experience of working in the Scottish rural environment.
• Strong project management skills delivering consenting/environmental compliance for major projects.
• Environmental or Planning degree, with possible postgraduate qualification; professional body membership desirable.
• Knowledge of infrastructure construction processes including ground investigation, earthworks, drainage and access.
• Willingness to contribute in a fast-moving team; openness to innovation.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the consenting strategy for nationally significant electricity infrastructure projects from development to consent and construction when required.
• Manage optioneering, environmental assessments and risk identification, ensuring environmental and consenting considerations are integrated into design and decision-making.
• Oversee external consultants to deliver Environmental Impact Assessments and consent documentation.
• Build relationships with consenting authorities and stakeholders, negotiating consent conditions for positive project outcomes.
• Collaborate within multi-disciplinary teams to deliver milestones and programme objectives.
