Job summary

SSEN Transmission are seeking a highly motivated Consents and Environment Manager to lead the consenting strategy for nationally significant electricity infrastructure projects in Scotland, from early development through to consent determination and, where required, construction delivery.

You will oversee environmental assessments, manage consultant teams, and build strong relationships with authorities, consultees and other stakeholders to secure positive project outcomes.

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of the Scottish planning process and consenting regimes.
• Experience with Environmental Impact Assessment legislation.
• Understanding of the Scottish rural environment.
• Demonstrable project management of major consenting/environmental projects.
• Degree in Environmental or Planning fields; postgraduate qualification preferred.
• Membership of a planning or environmental professional body desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the consenting strategy for nationally significant electricity infrastructure projects.
• Manage environmental assessments, risk identification and integration into project design.
• Oversee external consultants to deliver Environmental Impact Assessments and documentation.
• Build relationships with consenting authorities, consultees and government bodies.
• Collaborate within multi-disciplinary teams to achieve milestones and programme objectives.
