Job summary

SSEN Transmission, based in Scotland, is seeking an Assistant Consents and Environment Manager (Operations) to support the networks team in maintaining assets and ensuring ecological consenting is integrated throughout the life cycle.

You will collaborate with the Consents and Environment team, manage environmental compliance and permits, and drive Biodiversity Net Gain initiatives while fostering strong relationships with stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Degree (or equivalent) in an ecological discipline, ideally with a postgraduate qualification.
• Experience obtaining ecological permits and licences.
• Experience in infrastructure, statutory bodies, or consultancy.
• Knowledge of environmental legislation and consenting regimes.
• Proactive and adaptable approach.

Responsibilities

• Support operational teams in maintaining the network and integrate ecological requirements into asset management.
• Collaborate to ensure planning conditions understood early for handover.
• Implement monitoring regimes for Biodiversity Net Gain and protected species.
• Build relationships with stakeholders and authorities.
