Job summary
Hunters' client, a world-leading engineering company, is seeking a Machine Shop & Fabrication Supervisor in Pulborough to lead CNC and sheet metal fabrication teams. You will oversee daily operations, plan workloads, schedule manufacturing processes, and drive improvements to meet targets and delivery commitments.
Reporting to the Production Manager, you will monitor productivity, attend performance reviews, and maintain 5S standards while supporting capacity planning and resource allocation
Qualifications
- Previous supervisory or team leadership experience in manufacturing/engineering.
- Strong practical knowledge of CNC machining, particularly milling and/or turning.
- Experience in sheet metal fabrication, with knowledge of punch press and/or waterjet cutting desirable.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and manufacturing specifications.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles would be advantageous.
Responsibilities
- Supervise the daily operations of the CNC machine shop and sheet metal fabrication areas
- Plan and prioritise workloads to meet production and customer delivery requirements
- Coordinate CNC machining, punch press, waterjet cutting and associated manufacturing processes
- Monitor productivity, machine utilisation and labour efficiency
- Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to improve productivity, quality and efficiency
- Assist with performance reviews, return-to-work meetings and absence management
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping and workplace organisation, including 5S
- Support capacity planning and resource allocation to maximise production output
