Job summary

Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency seeks a Lead Platform Engineer to shape and deliver the technical strategy for large-scale digital services. You will lead a code-first approach to infrastructure, driving cloud engineering standards, automation and platform delivery across multiple teams, with AWS as the primary platform and Azure awareness.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience with AWS, Linux, Docker and CI/CD pipelines.
• Proven ability to lead multiple DevOps teams and mentor engineers.
• Experience designing secure, resilient cloud infrastructure at scale.
• Solid stakeholder management and strategic planning skills.
• Knowledge of IaC, Terraform, and Puppet for automation.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on technical leadership across multiple DevOps teams.
• Standardise and govern DevOps practices, IaC and CI/CD.
• Mentor engineers and uplift team capability.
• Design highly available, cost‑effective cloud services on AWS (Azure awareness).
• Drive Infrastructure automation using Terraform, Puppet and Ansible.
• Own service lifecycle from concept to live, including pre-production environments.
• Lead live service resolution and coordinate with Service Management.
• Engage stakeholders in Agile ceremonies to align tech with business goals.
