Job summary

Government Recruitment Service is seeking a Lead Platform Engineer to shape the technical strategy for DVSA's large-scale cloud services, primarily on AWS. You will lead multiple DevOps teams, enforce code-first IaC standards and drive secure, resilient, cost-effective delivery.

You will mentor engineers, collaborate with senior stakeholders, and ensure highly available services while coordinating across government to deliver value-driven outcomes.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience of AWS, Linux, Docker, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Puppet.
• Strong leadership, coaching and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience with cloud and SaaS integration in complex environments.
• Delivered automated, scalable cloud platforms at scale.
• Designed secure, resilient cloud infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-On technical direction to multiple DevOps teams, aligning with the architecture strategy.
• Lead standardisation and governance of DevOps practices across the lifecycle (IaC, CI/CD).
• Mentor engineers and testers to uplift capability and delivery.
• Personally design and architect highly available, cost-effective cloud services (AWS, Azure awareness).
• Drive IaC automation using Terraform, Puppet and Ansible.
