Job summary

Government Recruitment Service in Oldham is seeking a Lead Platform Engineer to shape DVSA's cloud strategy and deliver secure, scalable AWS infrastructure. You will lead multiple DevOps teams, enforce IaC standards and drive automation to accelerate live service delivery.

You will mentor engineers, collaborate with stakeholders, and ensure cost‑effective cloud platforms that meet performance goals and security requirements.

Qualifications

• Strong hands‑on experience of AWS, Linux, Docker, GitHub Actions, Jenkins and Puppet.
• Excellent leadership, coaching and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience with cloud and SaaS integration within complex environments.

Responsibilities

• Hands‑On Technical Leadership & Strategic Alignment: steer multiple DevOps teams to align with strategy.
• Standardisation & Governance: establish and enforce DevOps standards across IaC and CI/CD lifecycles.
• Team Guidance and Capability Uplift: mentor engineers and upskill teams across maturity levels.
• Hands‑On Cloud Architecture & Security Design: design secure, cost‑effective AWS/Azure services.
• Infrastructure Automation (IaC) Implementation: drive code‑first automation using Terraform, Puppet, Ansible.
• End‑to‑End Delivery and Environment Ownership: own service journey from concept to live deployment.
• Live Service Resolution & Support: advise on complex live issues and manage maintenance programs.
• Process Optimisation & Stakeholder Engagement: participate in Agile ceremonies with senior stakeholders.
