Job summary

Belcan is seeking an experienced Civil/Structural Design Engineer to lead design packages for Grid Access Substation and HVDC Converter Station projects. You will coordinate multidisciplinary teams, review technical solutions, and drive on-time, on-budget delivery.

The role requires strong civil and structural design experience across infrastructure sectors, with proficiency in design software and governance processes to ensure quality and compliance.

Qualifications

• Experience on infrastructure projects in power, energy, water, or petrochemical sectors.
• Earthworks design knowledge and Highway Works specification experience.
• Proficiency with Masterseries, Tedds or STAD-Pro design software.
• Experience reviewing and governing designs from third-party consultants.
• Strong understanding of CDM Regulations 2015; Chartered Engineer preferred.

Responsibilities

• Own and coordinate design packages from transfer to completion.
• Review Employer’s Requirements and support early design/tender activities.
• Support procurement and construction teams with technical expertise.
• Produce and review civil/structural designs using calculations and software.
• Undertake design governance checks and review third-party outputs.
• Manage design interfaces across disciplines and lead design reviews.
• Author Scope of Works documents and design tender packages.
• Monitor design progress, quality, budget, and programme performance.
