Job summary

TURNER & LOVELL LIMITED is seeking a Senior Civil Design Engineer to lead the design of electricity substations across the UK from concept to completion, overseeing drawings, calculations, and specifications for civil structures and infrastructure.

You will attend site visits, client meetings, and design reviews to monitor progress, resolve technical issues, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards within time and budget constraints.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• At least 3 years of industry experience, ideally within power transmission, distribution, substations, or related infrastructure in energy/renewables.
• Familiar with AutoCAD; experience in Civil 3D, Revit, or Navisworks is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end civil design of electricity substations (up to 400kV) across the UK.
• Attend site visits, client meetings, and design reviews to monitor progress and resolve technical issues.
• Coordinate with internal design teams and external stakeholders to meet technical, safety and quality requirements within time and budget constraints.
• Manage design risks and develop buildable engineering solutions throughout project development and delivery.
• Oversee design reviews and ensure integration with electrical and structural disciplines.
• Guide and support junior team members.
