Job summary

Pinnacle Group is seeking an experienced Lead Caretaker to ensure school facilities are safe, secure, clean and well‑maintained. The role is hands‑on with supervisory duties, and involves managing a team to maintain health and safety compliance across sites.

The post is full‑time with shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Monday to Friday, and requires the ability to liaise with external service providers to deliver responsive maintenance and improvements.

Qualifications

  • General handyman skills including basic DIY, carpentry, electrical and plumbing tasks.
  • Ability to liaise with external service providers to coordinate maintenance.
  • Enhanced DBS check is required and expected for the role.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee security of buildings and grounds including locking/unlocking and patrols.
  • Carry out daily cleaning and maintenance duties per school schedule.
  • Perform Planned Preventative Maintenance per school schedules.
  • Carry out minor repairs and decoration tasks.
  • Investigate reactive requests and coordinate with management for further repairs.
  • Respond to emergencies such as floods and other incidents according to procedures.
  • Conduct regular checks of BMS, boiler, hot water, drains and plant room.
  • Identify issues and notify management of additional repairs needed.

Pinnacle Group are looking for an experienced Lead Caretaker to ensure that the internal school facilities are available, fully functional, Health & Safety compliant, and aesthetically pleasing where this fails within the remit of the caretaking team.

Our Total Facilities Management team delivers integrated asset management and maintenance services across education, leisure, corporate, health and residential sectors. We focus on keeping facilities running smoothly, safely, and efficiently – helping our clients create spaces that work for everyone.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced and proactive caretaker with strong supervisory skills, capable of leading by example in a hands‑on working supervisor role while ensuring school sites remain safe, clean, secure, and well maintained.

This is a full‑time role with a varying shift pattern between the hours of 7AM-7PM, Monday-Friday.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensuring security integrity of the school buildings and grounds through locking and unlocking, patrols, monitoring third party lettings.
  • Carry out day-to-day duties according to daily schedule, i.e., littler picking, sweeping, refreshing toilets.
  • Carry out defined Planned Preventative Maintenance responsibilities in accordance with each school's schedule and individual's skills.
  • Carry out minor repairs and decoration works.
  • Carry out initial investigations into reactive requests made during the day relating to deficiencies in accommodation and making temporary or permanent repairs or otherwise notifying management of the need to call in a service provider, in accordance with prescribed procedures and timescales.
  • Respond to emergency situations such as floods, bodily fluids and effecting temporary or permanent rectification in accordance with prescribed procedures and timescales.
  • Daily visual checks of BMS, boiler and hot water functioning monthly pest inspections.
  • Weekly checking Weekly checking and clearing drains, gullies for blockages and weekly plant room check/plant changeover monthly change/sterilize shower heads painting (patch and programme)
  • Investigating reactive requests, carrying out temporary repairs and notifying management of further repairs required
Key Requirements

  • Ability to work in a team
