Job summary

WSP in the UK & Ireland is seeking a Senior Building Regulations Principal Designer to lead BRPD on major projects across sectors. The role involves coordinating design management, ensuring compliance with Building Safety Act 2022 and driving BRPD processes from inception to completion.

You will collaborate with engineers and specialists, oversee design deliverables, and support bids while mentoring the design team within the UK Property & Buildings business.

Qualifications

• Engineering, Architectural or Design Management degree.
• Chartered status or near.
• Experience as client-facing design manager or technical lead on large multi-disciplinary projects.
• Familiarity with RIBA design stages 1–3 including planning submissions.
• Organised, proactive, collaborative and able to communicate with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Act as Senior Building Regulations Principal Designer (BRPD) on major projects, coordinating with lead designer and engineering teams.
• Develop BRPD strategy and processes within WSP to deliver future-facing solutions.
• Oversee design aspects to meet objectives and regulatory requirements.
• Lead BRPD process development and coordination with stakeholders.
• Track progress and represent design team at progress review meetings.
• Coordinate resolution of risks and issues across stakeholders.
• Define project setup, mobilisation and design schedules.
• Facilitate interdisciplinary workshops to demonstrate BRPD compliance.
• Assist in handover and client delivery, supporting bids and opportunities.
