Job summary

WSP in the UK & Ireland is seeking a Senior Building Regulations Principal Designer (BRPD) to lead design management on major projects. You will liaise between the lead designer and engineering teams, develop BRPD strategies, and coordinate with stakeholders to ensure delivery to high standards.

You will guide the design team from inception to completion, shaping BRPD processes, and aligning with Building Safety Act 2022 requirements. A proactive, collaborative approach is essential.

Qualifications

• Engineering, Architectural or Design Management degree required.
• Chartership or professional accreditation preferred or near to achieving.
• Experience acting as a client-facing design manager or technical lead on large multi-disciplinary projects.
• Familiarity with all RIBA design stages (Stages 1–3) including planning submissions.
• Highly organised, proactive, and able to communicate with diverse stakeholders.
• Experience in large multi-disciplinary projects is preferred.
• Interest in innovation and developing new solutions.

Responsibilities

• Act as Senior BRPD on major projects, liaising between lead designer and engineering/specialist teams.
• Develop BRPD strategy and processes to deliver future-facing solutions.
• Collaborate with engineers and specialists on BRPD processes and solutions for High Risk and Non High Risk Buildings.
• Oversee design outputs to meet objectives and highest standards, guiding from inception to completion.
• Lead development of strategies and implement processes aligned with project goals.
• Develop and manage BRPD processes, coordinating with stakeholders.
• Track progress and present BRPD-related updates at progress reviews.
• Coordinate risk and issue resolution across stakeholders and design teams.
• Define project setup, mobilisation, and create design briefs and schedules.
• Facilitate interdisciplinary workshops to prove BRPD compliance.
• Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, standards, and safety in design.
