Job summary

Brandon James is seeking a Lead Building Regulations Principal Designer in the UK to lead on Higher-Risk Building activity and assume technical ownership of complex projects. You will guide multidisciplinary teams, manage Gateway submissions, and strengthen the Golden Thread framework across the service.

The role focuses on complex residential and HRB projects with a clear path to national service growth within Building Regulations Principal Designer offerings.

Qualifications

• BRPD experience at a senior level is essential.
• Experience on Higher-Risk Buildings is required.
• Excellent knowledge of Building Regulations and Approved Documents.
• Strong understanding of the Building Safety Act 2022.
• Experience with Gateway submissions and Building Safety Regulator processes.
• Proven ability to lead clients and multidisciplinary design teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead design compliance reviews and coordinate multidisciplinary design teams.
• Provide guidance on Building Regulations and Building Safety Act requirements.
• Support and lead HRB activity, gateway submissions and Golden Thread maintenance.

Lead Building Regulations Principal Designer

A growing multi-disciplinary building consultancy is seeking a Lead Building Regulations Principal Designer to take a key role within its expanding Principal Designer offering.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced BRPD who wants to lead on Higher-Risk Building activity, taking technical ownership of complex projects while helping develop the consultancy's Building Regulations Principal Designer service.

Working alongside Architects, Building Surveyors and Fire Engineers, the successful Principal Designer will have access to a strong technical team and a varied portfolio of complex building safety projects.

The Lead Building Regulations Principal Designer Role

The Lead BRPD will take responsibility for Principal Designer duties under the Building Regulations, with a particular focus on Higher-Risk Buildings and complex residential projects.

You will lead design compliance reviews, coordinate multidisciplinary design teams and advise clients on Building Regulations and Building Safety Act requirements.

A significant part of the position will involve HRB activity, including supporting and leading Gateway submissions, managing compliance information, design change control and maintaining the Golden Thread.

Alongside project delivery, you will act as a technical lead for BRPD services, supporting colleagues, developing procedures and helping grow the service nationally.

The Lead Building Regulations Principal Designer

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• Strong Building Regulations Principal Designer experience
• Proven experience working on Higher-Risk Buildings
• Excellent Building Regulations and Approved Documents knowledge
• Strong understanding of the Building Safety Act 2022
• Experience with Gateway 2 submissions and the Building Safety Regulator
• Background in Architecture, Building Surveying or a similar design discipline
• RIBA, ARB, CIAT, RICS, CABE or APS membership advantageous
• Confidence leading clients and multidisciplinary design teams
