Job summary

Tetra Tech Europe is seeking a Principal Designer Building Regulations Consultant to deliver Principal Designer services for medium to large projects, ensuring statutory compliance and robust design coordination. You will oversee design development, submissions, and regulatory risk management, reporting to the PDBR Lead.

We value a strong background in building regulations compliance, design review, and multidisciplinary delivery, with flexible/hybrid working and UK travel as needed.

Qualifications

• At least one of the stated qualifications; strong experience in building regulations compliance, design review and project delivery.
• Excellent technical reporting and stakeholder communication skills.
• Multi-disciplinary consultancy, Welsh regulations, public sector and health and safety qualifications are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead Principal Designer duties under Building Regulations on medium-to-large projects.
• Review designs against functional requirements and approved documents.
• Identify compliance issues early and shape robust solutions.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers and specialists to manage design compliance.
• Produce clear compliance statements and advisory reports.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, local authorities and RBCAs.
• Maintain accurate compliance records and audit trails.
