Job summary

Orion Electrotech in Reading is seeking an experienced Lead Assembler on a contract basis. The role involves leading the assembly team, ensuring work is completed to schedule, and building products in line with engineering drawings and quality standards.

Responsibilities include coordinating daily workflow, monitoring output for efficiency, conducting quality checks, and supporting training. Immediate start offered for the right candidate, with a Monday–Friday pattern.

Qualifications

• Experience as Lead Assembler or similar in manufacturing.
• Ability to read and follow engineering drawings and instructions.
• Strong attention to detail and quality control.

Lead Assembler Role

We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Lead Assembler to join a busy manufacturing team in Reading on a contract basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on individual with strong assembly experience who enjoys supporting a team, maintaining high quality standards, and ensuring production targets are met in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities of the Lead Assembler

• Lead by example on the assembly line, supporting production activities and ensuring work is completed to schedule.
• Coordinate daily workflow and assist in allocating tasks across the assembly team.
• Build and assemble products in line with engineering drawings, work instructions, and quality standards.
• Monitor production output and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce downtime.
• Carry out quality checks and ensure all assembled products meet required specifications.
• Support the training and development of new and existing team members.
• Maintain a safe and organised work environment, following all health and safety procedures.
• Work closely with supervisors and production management to achieve departmental targets.

Requirements of the Lead Assembler

• Previous experience in a Lead Assembler, Senior Assembler, Assembly Team Leader, or similar manufacturing role.
• Strong assembly and production experience within a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read and follow engineering drawings, assembly instructions, and technical documentation.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to support, motivate, and guide team members when required.
• Comfortable working to deadlines in a fast-paced production environment.
