Job summary

Orion Electrotech in Reading is seeking an experienced Lead Assembler to join a busy manufacturing team on a contract basis. You will lead by example on the assembly line, coordinate daily workflow and ensure products are built to engineering drawings and quality standards.

This hands‑on role requires strong production experience, the ability to read technical drawings, and the capability to motivate and supervise a small team while maintaining safety and meeting deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Lead by example on the assembly line and support production activities.

Lead Assembler Role

We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Lead Assembler to join a busy manufacturing team in Reading on a contract basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands‑on individual with strong assembly experience who enjoys supporting a team, maintaining high quality standards, and ensuring production targets are met in a fast‑paced environment.

Key Responsibilities of the Lead Assembler

• Lead by example on the assembly line, supporting production activities and ensuring work is completed to schedule.
• Coordinate daily workflow and assist in allocating tasks across the assembly team.
• Build and assemble products in line with engineering drawings, work instructions, and quality standards.
• Monitor production output and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce downtime.
• Carry out quality checks and ensure all assembled products meet required specifications.
• Support the training and development of new and existing team members.
• Maintain a safe and organised work environment, following all health and safety procedures.
• Work closely with supervisors and production management to achieve departmental targets.

Requirements of the Lead Assembler

• Previous experience in a Lead Assembler, Senior Assembler, Assembly Team Leader, or similar manufacturing role.
• Strong assembly and production experience within a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read and follow engineering drawings, assembly instructions, and technical documentation.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high‑quality work.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to support, motivate, and guide team members when required.
• Comfortable working to deadlines in a fast‑paced production environment.
