Job summary

Orion Electrotech in Reading is seeking an experienced Lead Assembler to join a busy manufacturing team on a contract basis. You will lead by example on the assembly line, coordinate daily workflow and ensure products are built to engineering drawings and quality standards.

This hands‑on role requires strong production experience, the ability to read technical drawings, and the capability to motivate and supervise a small team while maintaining safety and meeting deadlines.

Qualifications

• Experience as Lead/Team Leader in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and work instructions.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Responsibilities

• Lead by example on the assembly line and support production activities.
• Coordinate daily workflow and allocate tasks across the team.
• Build and assemble products in line with drawings and quality standards.
• Monitor output and identify efficiency improvements and reduce downtime.
• Perform quality checks to ensure specifications are met.
• Support training and development of team members.
• Maintain a safe, organised work environment and follow health & safety procedures.
• Collaborate with supervisors and management to hit targets.
