Job summary

Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Band 6 Senior Theatre Practitioner (Anaesthetics) based at the Princess Elizabeth Orthopaedic Centre theatres in Exeter. The post is a fixed-term contract until 31 October 2027, with on-call, weekend work and 37.5 hours across four days.

The role requires leadership of the Anaesthetic Theatre team, teaching and development responsibilities, and the delivery of high-quality perioperative care in a busy NHS environment.

Qualifications

• You must be registered nurse (RN) or Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) with at least 2 years of surgery experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Anaesthetic Theatre team and deliver high-quality perioperative care.
• Plan and manage individual perioperative care programmes.
• Facilitate learning opportunities and assess staff/students in the department.
• Participate in personal development reviews and performance management.
• Promote blood conservation and manage relevant stock/equipment.
• Work flexibly across the Trust and participate in on-call/weekend shifts.
