Job summary

The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) is seeking a Lead AI Engineer to own and build the AI Platform. You will design secure, reusable, and self-service capabilities on AWS, setting technical standards and roadmaps for the team.

As part of the AI Product Delivery group, you’ll drive retrieval, memory, guardrails and observability, aligning with regulatory requirements and governance for responsible AI development.

Qualifications

• Hands-on backend and AI platform development experience.
• Experience delivering cloud-based AI solutions on AWS.
• Knowledge of DevOps practices and enterprise review processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead the AI Platform build and own the platform architecture.
• Deliver a model gateway and access layer for approved models.
• Establish retrieval (RAG) as a platform service and engineer AI memory services.
• Develop the agent runtime (the harness).
• Embed guardrails and safety controls, making policy enforcement the default.
• Set prompt engineering, evaluation and AI development lifecycle standards.
• Drive observability and operations with dashboards and runbooks.
• Collaborate with the AI Product team to scale platform capabilities.
