Job summary

The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) is seeking a Head of Agentic AI and Data Science Research to lead the organisation’s frontier AI capabilities, oversee governance and ethics, and shape a long-term AI roadmap. The role reports to the Director of Intelligence & Digital and collaborates with AI Product Delivery and AI Security teams.

Qualifications

• Significant experience of managing and influencing senior stakeholders.
• Experience leading specialist technical, analytical, AI, data science teams.
• Strong understanding of AI, ML, data science and analytics.
• Experience developing governance frameworks and roadmaps for AI/analytics.
• Ability to translate complex tech into organisational outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Lead the FCA’s Agentic AI and Data Science Research function and set strategic direction for AI research and analytics.
• Define medium/long-term AI approach to support smarter regulation and regulatory intelligence.
• Establish and maintain AI governance, research ethics, and responsible AI frameworks.
• Develop and deliver the department’s long-term strategy and capability roadmap.
• Lead horizon scanning and AI intelligence, translating findings into policy insights and investment priorities.
• Provide specialist AI/data science expertise and thought leadership across stakeholders.
